Guild History

The Rappahannock Decoy Carvers and Collectors Guild was founded in 1987 by a group of Northern Neck duck hunters with a desire to promote the heritage of waterfowl hunting and decoy carving and collecting. Their desire was, and still is, to encourage the collection, carving and competition of waterfowl decoys to further the general knowledge of this piece of America's outdoor life.

To fulfill this goal, the Rappahannock Decoy Carvers and Collectors Guild members work to help anyone interested in learning how to carve decoys, share information with those interested in waterfowl history, and help to support the White Stone Waterfowl Show by running the Decoy Competition in conjunction with the Show. We have also worked with other organizations to teach decoy painting to youth, and plan to expand this work into carving lessons and expansion of our Youth Division in the White Stone competition.
